About

Tammi started with NIFA in October 2021 as a Program Specialist for the USDA Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) Program. She serves to facilitate the program, which administers Phase I and Phase II grants as well as serving on the Conservation of Natural Resources SBIR Topic Area team.

Prior to this position, she spent much of her career as a Research Specialist with North Dakota State University (NDSU) where she worked in the Department of Animal Sciences coordinating and conducting research projects with faculty members and writing journal articles. In addition, while at NDSU, Tammi worked with Graduate Students at the Center for Writers, helping them become more confidant writers.

She holds B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Animal and Range Sciences from NDSU. Tammi pursued her M.S. degree after she saw that the research she conducted as an Undergraduate Student could benefit livestock producers. Within SBIR program, she can combine her passion for supporting the agricultural industry with impacts to rural communities, small and mid-size farms, and animal agriculture.
